Join us in New Zealand February 2012: Sustainable tourism study tour!

25 Oct

With my friend and colleague Kristin Dahl of Restoration Expeditions, I’m helping to lead a study tour to New Zealand for travel professionals, planners, and community developers who want to learn from a destination renowned for quality tourism experiences. The dates: February 5-11, 2012. For more information about study tour details, including pricing, here’s the sample itinerary.

The study tour is inspired by Kristin’s expertise as a sustainable tourism development professional, and my awesome vacation to Kiwi country last winter, about which I’ve written here, here and here. There are so many relevant lessons for communities in the Pacific Northwest about how to connect attractions, nurture entrepreneurs, and create memorable experiences. And, of course, what better way to learn than to experience it ourselves, and debrief that experience with New Zealand based travel industry professionals along the way!

New Zealand is a big country, so we’re being selective and focusing our visit in and around Wellington, including the Martinborough wine region, the Queen Charlotte Track, and Abel Tasman National Park.  The group size will be limited to 10 people, just the right size for thoughtful conversation, relevant learning and lively friendship.

I can’t wait to go back! Are you interested in joining us? All the information about where we’ll go, what it costs, and who to contact is on the itinerary.  Not only will be it be sunny summertime when we go: the whole experience will be “good as gold”, as they say in New Zealand!
