Congratulations to Travel Oregon’s Rural Tourism Studio!

I have the privilege of working closely with Travel Oregon on several projects, including the Rural Tourism Studio program, which offers a practical workshop series to foster new tourism product development in rural communities statewide. Write to Know’s role over the past five years has included assistance with project design and refinement, ongoing program improvement evaluation, training and capturing early program impacts, success stories and lessons learned.  In an earlier post, we featured the first of a series of videos about the accomplishments of participating communities, in that case, Oakridge. Here is the recently released video from the RTS workshops in Wallowa County, in Oregon’s far northeast corner.  Impressive stuff!

Just as impressive, the Rural Tourism Studio program garnered national accolades last week in New York City, receiving the Platinum level (top!) Adrian Award for “Leadership in Sustainable Tourism” from National Geographic Traveler and the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International.  A well-deserved honor for Kristin Dahl, Director of Destination Development, and Todd Davidson, CEO of Travel Oregon.

So proud of my colleagues and friends in this project!
